Settings › Dispatch › Trucks is your fleet as MoveBoard schedules it: every truck that jobs are put on, the Unassigned line, and the rules for counting a free truck.
Before you start
Anyone who can open Settings can change this page. Only an administrator sees the Our cost card. A new company starts with Truck 1, Truck 2 and Truck 3, 1,500 cu ft each.
The settings at the top
These wait for the Save footer.
- Allow Unassigned On Truck Schedule — jobs with no truck yet can sit on an Unassigned line of the truck schedule, with Maximum number of slots per day. See Job assignments and the Unassigned truck.
- Truck schedule placement on order window — Top, Bottom or Pop out: where the truck schedule sits in the order window.
- How we count an available truck — Count a truck as available: by open hours, or One job per truck per day; with open hours also A truck's working day, The working day starts at, Buffer between jobs and Show the open time as green "free" blocks. Explained in How an available truck is counted.
The trucks
Each truck has a Name, a capacity (in your move unit) and Show on Dispatch only (the truck is on the dispatch board only — it isn't counted in the order window's Trucks Available or the calendar's day bars). With several branches, you pick the branches each truck shows in.
- Click into a row to edit it; Update saves it, Cancel puts it back.
- Add Truck adds a row (Save keeps it). Delete Truck removes the selected trucks after asking.
- Drag a truck by its six-dot handle to change its place. The order saves at once, and every list of trucks follows it — the dispatch board, the truck pickers, the order window and the calendar.
- Truck Availability opens the truck's year: click days or months to mark them Unavailable (a day off, a repair). A day with a booked or reserved order on this truck is marked and can't be taken off.
Our cost (administrators)
With more than one branch, each truck's name carries its branch — the branches ticked under Display truck in branch, or the branch it was made in when none is ticked — so two trucks with the same name are told apart.
What each truck costs to run — Monthly cost (payment or lease, insurance, registration, repairs; everything except fuel) and miles per gallon — plus Your diesel price, used only when no weekly government diesel price is available for your region (always, for a Canadian company). The closing's Profit reads these. See Closing profit.
If something goes wrong
- Give the truck a name.
- A truck's name is 64 characters at most.
- Capacity has to be more than zero (a truck with none is the Unassigned one).
- Pick at least one branch to show the truck in.
