Labor spread
The page that sets how much wider a quote's labor range gets on long jobs — the minimum comes down, the maximum goes up.

An hourly quote is a range — for example 4 to 5 hours. Settings › Pricing & calculator › Labor spread widens that range on longer jobs, where the real time is harder to predict. Why and how is in Why the quote is a range.
Before you start
Anyone who can open Settings can change this page. It is kept per move type (pick it at the top). Nothing is saved until you press Save.
How a rule reads
If maximum labor is more than [hours] hours, decrease minimum labor by [h:mm] minutes – increase maximum labor by [h:mm] minutes.
The boxes are Hours threshold, Decrease minimum labor and Increase maximum labor. The rule with the highest number of hours the job reaches is the one used. The amounts go from 0:15 to 4:00, in quarters of an hour.
A new company starts with six rules on every move type, from "over 3 hours: +0:30 / −0:15" up to "over 18 hours: +1:45 / −1:00".
Change the rules
- Add puts a new rule at the end. Only one rule per threshold — a second one says You can only add one setting.
- Delete on a rule removes it (after a Warning).
- Copy to other move types fills the others with these rules (it asks first).
Press Save when done.
If something goes wrong
- The hours after which a spread applies must be a whole number from 0 to 100.
- A spread is chosen from 0:15 to 4:00, in quarters of an hour. With no rules the page says No labor spread is set for this move type.; when no rule applies to a job, MoveBoard uses your company's default spread.
Example
The calculator works a job out at 7:00. With the rule "more than 6 hours: decrease minimum labor by 0:30, increase maximum labor by 1:00", the quote shows 6:30 to 8:00 of labor, each end priced at the hourly rate.
