Packing materials

Settings › Sales & orders › Packing materials is your price list of boxes and supplies. The office adds them to an order from the Materials pop-up in Quote Details, and the foreman adds them on the bill of lading. How they land on the quote is in Materials and additional services.

Before you start

Anyone who can open Settings can change the list. Only an administrator sees the Our cost card.

The list is kept per move type: pick it at the top. Every add, change, reorder and delete here saves at once — there is no Save button.

The list

The Materials card shows each material with its Unit cost and the On contract page mark. Prices shown switches the view between Hourly and Long Distance prices (Long Distance also shows the Labor rate). Drag a row to change the order materials are offered in.

Add or change a material

1. 1Press Add packing (or Edit on a row).
2. 2Fill in: - Name - LM Unit Cost — the price on a local (hourly) move. - LD Unit Cost — the price on a long-distance move. - Labor Rate — required. - Show in Contract Page — the material is listed on the contract page of the bill of lading.
3. 3Press Save.

Delete asks first (Warning › Yes, Delete).

Copy to other move types replaces the other move types' materials with copies of this list, at once.

Our cost (administrators)

What each material costs you to buy — one cost per material name, whatever the move type. Press a material to open its cost, type Our cost and an optional Starting date, then Add this cost. Earlier costs stay on record so past jobs keep the cost they had. Under each material, a line says what it sells for on the move type tab you're on, and on the other move types apart — for example sells for $6.00 on Residential · $8.00 on other move types. The Material Profitability report reads these costs; its "cost not set" link brings you straight to the material.

If something goes wrong

The pop-up says what's missing (for example a required Name or Labor Rate). If a reorder can't be saved, the list goes back and a red bar says why.
