Every order gets a number, like R10452. Settings › Sales & orders › Order numbering sets where the numbers start and the letters in front of them.
Before you start
Anyone who can open Settings can change this page. Unlike most settings pages, each field saves as soon as you leave it — there is no Save button.
Order numbers
- Start orders at number — the number the next order takes. Each order after it takes the next number.
You can move the number forward (for example to start a new year at 20000). A number that's already taken is refused.
Prefixes
Letters in front of the number, so you can tell orders apart at a glance.
- Prefix for — All move types (one prefix for the three) or Each move type (a box for each).
- Prefix — up to 6 characters. It can't end in a digit, so the prefix never runs into the number.
Choosing one prefix for all move types saves at once.
Example
Prefix R for Residential and C for Commercial, starting at 1000: the next residential order is R1000, the next commercial one C1001.
If something goes wrong
The reason is written under the field:
- The number entered is not available. Please select another.
- Order number must be a valid positive number
- Up to 8 digits are allowed
- Up to 6 characters are allowed
- The prefix cannot end in a number
