Settings › Services & packing › Local moves decides, per move type, whether you take local moves and where "local" ends. Past that distance a move is long distance — intrastate or interstate.

Before you start

Anyone who can open Settings can change this page. It is kept per move type (pick it at the top). Nothing is saved until you press Save.

The fields

  • Local Settings — local moves on or off for this move type.
  • Default Estimate Type — Flat Rate, Binding or Non-Binding: what a new local order starts as.
  • Local Move when distance less than — in miles (or km). This also sets where Intrastate starts.
  • Switch to interstate if crossing state lines — a move into another state is interstate, however short.
  • Main State/Province — your home state, shown when the switch above is on.

A changed field shows a gold changed tag; press it to put that field back. Copy to other move types fills the others (it asks first) and waits for Save.

Warnings

The page warns when the local range and the next range leave a gap or overlap — for example Warning: the local max setting on this page of 100 Miles, leaves a 20 mile gap between the intrastate move min Miles of 120. Fix the ranges so every distance falls in exactly one.

Also used by

Your website form uses this distance to tell a local move from a long-distance one. The order window's local / long-distance switch is explained in Local or long distance.
