When a move becomes long distance

What MoveBoard asks when an address change turns a local move into a long-distance one (or back), and what each answer does.

Your company decides how far a local move can go (Settings › Services & packing › Local moves). When you change a ZIP code on an order and the move crosses that line, MoveBoard asks right away — on any order, in any status, even Booked.

The question

This move is now long distance (or This move is now local). It tells you how far apart the addresses now are, where Local ends for your company, and which service it would change to. You choose:

  • Change to Long Distance (or Change to Local) — the day switches to the new service in the window: the long-distance price, its sections and the fuel show at once.
  • Keep as Local (or Keep as Long Distance) — nothing changes except the address.

If a long-distance move changes between in-state and out-of-state, the question is This move is now interstate (or intrastate), with the two service names on the buttons.

On a Booked order

After Change, MoveBoard asks Keep it Booked? A change this big usually needs a new signature:

  • Keep it Booked — the order stays Booked with the new service.
  • Move back to Reserved — the status goes back to Reserved, so the customer signs a new Order for Service.

Nothing is saved until SAVE

The question only changes your draft. Press SAVE to keep the new address, service and price together. Discard, or closing without saving, puts everything back. Pressing Esc or outside the question keeps things as they are.
