Why some fields are locked
Once the crew starts the job, the sold quote and the schedule lock — here's what locks, why, and where to make changes instead.

An order's fields lock in three steps. Each protects something: the price the customer agreed to, the crew's plan for the day, and the final numbers.
1. The job starts — sales lock
A day's job starts when the foreman gets the customer's first signature on the bill of lading (the job moves to Loading). From then on, the sales side of that day is locked: crew size, labor time, rate, trucks, addresses, size, discount, valuation, fuel, materials, additional services and the order's settings.
You'll see the cards greyed out, and if you try:
- This job has started, so sales can no longer change its addresses. Switch to the closing side to edit them.
- The contract is signed, so sales are locked. Nothing on the sales side can be changed now.
What to do: switch to VIEW CLOSING INFO. The same fields there are the closing's — what really happened on the day — and they're open. See The closing view.
The office can lock sales early with Activate Closing in the closing bar. MoveBoard warns first: This will lock your sales and any future changes would be done in closing. DEACTIVATE CLOSING undoes it, as long as the job was never completed.
2. The schedule locks too
Once the job has started (or closing was activated), the schedule — move date, arrival window, trucks held and blocked time — is locked on both sides:
The contract is signed, so the schedule is locked. Dates, trucks and arrival windows have to be changed before the contract is signed.
If the crew needs another truck on the day, the dispatcher sets it on the Dispatch board.
3. The job is completed — everything locks
When the order is closed, the whole day is read-only on both sides until it's reopened. See Completed jobs and reopening.
Other reasons a field is greyed
- You don't have the permission for it (for example editing the fuel surcharge or the deposit) — hover to read why.
- A teammate is editing the order — see Someone else is in this order.
- You're looking at ALL days on a multi-day move — pick a day.
