Orders

Someone else is in this order

Why an order says LOCKED, how RELEASE works, and what "Order Has Been Updated" means.

On this page

Only one person edits an order at a time. Whoever opens it first holds it; everyone else sees it LOCKED until it's free or they take it with RELEASE.

When an order is locked

The title bar says Order ID: … - LOCKED, and a badge in the middle of the window says Locked — (name) is working in this order. You can still scroll and read everything, but nothing can be changed, and the title bar has RELEASE where SAVE usually is.

The lock comes off by itself:

  • the moment the other person closes the order,
  • about a minute and a half after their window stops answering (a crashed browser or a lost connection),
  • after 15 minutes without a mouse, keyboard or touch in their window.

Your window notices within a second or two and opens up — no need to refresh. Your own windows share your lock, so having the same order open twice never locks you out.

Take the order with RELEASE

  1. Press RELEASE (on the badge or in the title bar).
  2. Read the question: "You are about to release this order from (name)". Any changes the other person hasn't saved are dropped, and only the most recent edits are applied after saving.
  3. Press Confirm.

Anyone who can see the order may release it. After a release, both of you can edit; whoever saves last wins for the fields you both changed.

What the other person sees

  • After a RELEASE, a note titled Order released: "(name) released this order from you. Only the most recent edits will be applied after saving."
  • After 15 minutes away: "You were away for 15 minutes, so this order was released for others to edit. It is yours again as soon as you use it, if nobody else has taken it."

The Order Log keeps a line for every release, saying who released the order from whom.

"Order Has Been Updated"

While you have an order open, MoveBoard checks about every 30 seconds whether someone else changed it. When the customer (in their portal) or another office user saved a change, a small pop-up asks:

  • "This order has been modified by (name). Would you like to refresh to see the latest changes?" — "(customer)" follows a customer's name.
  • "This order has been updated automatically. Would you like to refresh to see the latest changes?"

Press Refresh to load the latest, or Not now to keep working on what you have. Changes the crew makes on the job and what MoveBoard does by itself show up in the conversation and the Order Log without asking.

Who's looking right now

The dot beside the status in the strip is green while the customer has their portal open, and grey when they don't. The Order Log also notes when someone opens and closes the order.

If something goes wrong

Order ID=… cannot be accessed because it has been deleted/archived earlier or by another user session. — the order was archived or removed while you had it open. Close the window.
