Press SAVE on an order and the Order Updates window opens first. It lists every change you're about to write and, when you changed the status, the messages that go to the customer with it.

Check the changes

Each change is one line, for example Status: Reserved to Booked.

On a multi-day order, buttons for Day 1, Day 2 and so on switch between the days. Changes to the whole order (the customer, the status, the flags) are listed under the first day. A day with nothing changed says "No changes for selected day".

The messages for a new status

When you moved the order to another status, MoveBoard looks up your templates for that status change — the active ones that fit this order's move type and the day's service and estimate type — and shows each one as a chip with an envelope (email) or a speech bubble (text).

For each chip you can:

  • Press the eye to see it filled in for this order, inside your company's header and footer — exactly as it is sent. Press it again to close the preview.
  • Press its name to change the words for this one send. Variables in {{ }} are filled in when it goes.
  • Press ✕ so it doesn't go.

To send something else as well, press Add update, open a folder under Click to Use Template and pick a template.

A chip that can't go is greyed and crossed out with the reason: Won't be sent — no phone number or Won't be sent — no email address. You can still preview it; Save simply leaves it out. Add the missing phone or email on the Customer card in the same edit and it can go.

Booking a long-distance move (Intrastate or Interstate) offers the long-distance email Status Booked Long Distance Moves with the text SMS Status Booked Long Distance Moves; a local move offers the local ones. The names are your templates' names: if yours still reads Status Booked Hourly Moves on a long-distance booking, that template is your long-distance email under its old starting name — rename it in Settings › Communication › Templates, and tick Long Distance Intrastate Move on it so intrastate bookings get it too.

Save or go back

  • Save closes the window, writes all your changes, then sends the messages left in the list.
  • Cancel (or Esc) takes you back to the order with your changes still unsaved.

Save is greyed while a message you kept has no text, or an email has no subject; point at it to see which one.

What happens next

The messages appear in the order's conversation and the Order Log. The order's additional contact gets a copy too when their email or text switch is on — their own version, without the customer's sign-in links.

If no status was changed, no messages are offered — the window only lists the changes.

If something goes wrong

  • Saved. These messages were not sent: … (an amber note, not a red error) — your changes are saved; only the named messages didn't go. Each one says why in plain words, for example texting is turned off for your company — Settings › Communication › Text messages. Fix the reason and send the message from the conversation. Close the note with ×.
  • Saved. The messages could not be sent … — the changes are saved; nothing was sent. Check the connection and send from the conversation.
  • That template could not be opened. — pick it again under Add update.
  • The preview could not be made. — the message can still be sent; try the eye again.
  • A refusal of the save itself (for example a status that isn't allowed) shows on the order window, and nothing is sent.
