On this page
Almost everything you change in an order is a draft: the screen shows it, the price follows at once, but nothing is written until you press SAVE. A few actions are saved the moment you do them; they're listed below.
What waits for SAVE
- The Customer card: names, email, phones, best contact, info, the email / text / portal switches and the additional contact.
- On the Order card: Secondary ID, Source, Size of Move, Rooms, a custom size and Tariff Type.
- Everything in Move Details: the date, arrival window, crew, trucks, rates, hours and minimum hours.
- Everything in Quote Details: deposit, fuel, valuation, materials, services, fees, discount.
- The addresses: a stop added, changed, taken off or dragged to another place. A stop with unsaved changes shows a small gold dot.
- The status, the flags, trucks held on the schedule, and Delete this Day.
While anything is waiting, SAVE is lit and Discard sits beside it. Discard throws every unsaved change away and shows the order as it was saved.
What is saved straight away
- + Add Day — the day is added and priced when you press Add the day.
- Dragging the day circles of a multi-day move into another order.
- Move Type, Service Type and Estimate Type on the Order card — the order is re-priced on the spot. To change the move type, save or discard your other changes first.
- Assign to (the salesperson) and linking the order to an Account.
- Mark as Sent on a certificate of insurance, and Submit in the inventory.
- Messages, emails, notes and calls in Communication — they go when you press their own send button.
What SAVE does
- Press SAVE.
- MoveBoard checks that the status you chose can be saved (see below). If not, a Warning! says what is missing and nothing is written.
- If the job still has a truck on Unassigned, it asks Unassigned truck — Continue or Go back.
- Order Updates lists every change, one line each — for example "Status: Reserved to Booked" or "Destination: Waltham, MA 02144 → Medford, MA 02155". On a multi-day move you can look at each day's changes.
- If the status changed, the messages that go with it show as chips — preview, edit or remove them. See Order updates to the customer.
- Press Save. The changes are written as one entry in the Order Log, then the messages go.
Checks SAVE makes
| You see | Why |
|---|---|
| To save these changes, assign a truck to your move: use Schedule Date/Truck to pick one. | Booked, Reserved and Can Book Online orders need a truck on every day. |
| To save these changes, assign a truck to your move: use Schedule Date/Truck on the Pickup tab of Move Details to pick the pickup truck. | The same, on a long-distance order: booking needs the pickup truck (a Trip Planner delivery gets its truck on its trip). |
| Assign 1 more truck to save these changes | The quote needs more trucks than are held. |
| Please assign the correct number of trucks for both pickup and delivery | The same, on a long-distance move. |
| To save these changes, you need to enter all street addresses in the "Addresses" section. | A Booked order needs a street on every customer address. |
| To book this order, add the customer's email in the Customer section. | Can Book Online, Reserved and Booked need a first and last name, email and phone. |
You can type the customer's name and email and change the status in the same SAVE — for example a lead that came in with only a phone: type First name, Last name and Email, choose Can Book Online, press SAVE. They are written together, so the check sees what you typed. If the status can't be saved, nothing you typed is lost: it stays on the card and SAVE stays lit.
Anything you change while a SAVE is still finishing stays on the screen and keeps SAVE lit, so you can save it next.
Closing or leaving with changes
Closing the window asks Save your changes? — Cancel (stay), Close without saving, or Save and close (the same SAVE, questions and all; the window closes only once it's saved). Leaving the page or refreshing the browser asks first too.
If something goes wrong
- The save is taking too long and was stopped waiting. Check the order's history before saving again: it may have gone through. — MoveBoard waited 30 seconds for an answer. Look at the Order Log before pressing SAVE again.
- The save could not reach the server. Check the connection and try again.
- The order was saved, but the messages could not be sent. — the changes are in; send the message from Communication.
- Save or discard the changes to this order first, then change the kind of move.
