Moving & storage and overnight days

A moving & storage move is two orders: the move in to your warehouse and, later, the move out to the new home. The two are linked, and the storage itself is a storage tenant with its own monthly billing.

The storage card in the addresses

On a moving & storage day, the warehouse takes the place of the destination (moving in) or the start (moving out) in the addresses, as a card marked Storage. It shows:

• on the move-in: the Monthly fee, the Duration cost, the storage dates, and whether the storage is Included in total or Not included in total of the quote;
• a warning when the stay is More than the … -month maximum in your storage settings.

When you switch a day to moving & storage, the card appears right away with Working out storage… and fills in by itself once the switch is saved — no need to close and reopen the order.

Link the other order

When the two orders are linked, the card shows View Delivery Order (on the move-in) or View Pickup Order (on the move-out), the other order's status and its date. Press the link to open that order in its own window.

When they're not linked yet:

1. 1Type the other order's number or customer in Link order and pick it.
2. 2If MoveBoard asks Do you wish to update the move details?, choose Yes or No, then Save. Close links them without copying anything.

Or press Create a move out to make the move-out order from this one. It says "Move out order created successfully".

To unlink, press the unlink button beside the link and answer Yes, unlink.

On a completed day, linking, unlinking and Create a move out are frozen; the link to the other order still opens it.

The storage charge

The Storage row in Quote Details opens the Storage Charge window: the Storage Facility, the rate, the billing schedule and, on a multi-day order, the Storage billing day — the day the customer signs the storage agreement and is billed. Your changes are written with the order's SAVE. Storage is charged on the move-in; the move-out's storage is $0.00 unless you type an amount.

The storage tenant

• The tenant is made when the move-in order is booked. Before that there's no tenant to see.
• Storage in the strip (with a coloured dot) opens a quick look: the Tenant number, its Status and Balance, and Open the tenant. With no tenant yet, Add Storage Tenant makes one.
• If a booked move-in order stops being booked (postponed, cancelled) before the goods move in, its tenant is removed. Once the goods are in storage, the tenant stays.

Overnight days

An overnight storage move picks up on one day and delivers on a second day. Picking overnight storage as a day's service asks for that Second day — see Change the service of a day. The overnight price follows Settings › Pricing & calculator › Overnight charges; see Overnight moves.

If something goes wrong

• Move type or estimate type is not supported to link orders — these two orders can't be linked.
• The time in storage is more than the maximum allotted number of months for a storage tenant from your current settings. Do you wish to proceed? — asked when a date change makes the stay too long; Yes Proceed or Don’t Proceed.
• This order is linked to storage tenant #… (still in storage). Unlink it in the storage tenant window before archiving. — see Postpone, cancel or archive.
