Overnight moves

An overnight move is loaded one day and delivered on a later day, with the goods kept on your truck in between. The order has two days: the pickup and the delivery.

The two days' routes

The goods spend the night on your truck, and the truck spends the night at your office. In the order's Addresses:

• The pickup day shows only the pickup: the drive from your office to the pickup, then the line from the pickup ends at the truck, marked Overnight in truck. That last drive is the drive back to your office, where the truck parks.
• The delivery day starts at the truck (the drive from your office to the delivery), shows only the delivery, and ends with the drive back to your office.

Both days' drives count in the travel time, the Total line, the dispatch board and the crew's bill. The customer sees the same two days in their portal.

How the charge is worked out

• The first night is charged at the Overnight Rate.
• Every further night is charged at the Additional Overnight Fee.
• With Apply Charge set to Per Truck, each night's charge is multiplied by the number of trucks. With Only Once Per Order, it's charged once whatever the number of trucks.

The nights are the days between the pickup date and the delivery date. For example, a pickup on Monday and a delivery on Thursday is three nights: one at the overnight rate and two at the additional fee.

The charges appear as Overnight fee and Additional Overnight fee under Other Fees in Quote Details.

When the charges change

MoveBoard works the nights out again whenever the dates change — when the order is created, when you change either day's date, and when you switch a day to or from the overnight service.

The delivery day has to come after the pickup day: The delivery day of an overnight storage move has to come after the day of the load.

Set it up

Go to Settings › Pricing & calculator › Overnight charges and pick the move type:

Press Save. Orders that already exist keep their charges until their dates change.
