Labor time is the size of the move divided by how fast the crew works. Settings › Pricing & calculator › Mover Speed holds those speeds, and everything that slows a crew down. Each move type has its own.

Crew Speed: a tab per crew size, the speed in cubic feet an hour, and a row per entrance with its speed reduction
Crew Speed: a tab per crew size, the speed in cubic feet an hour, and a row per entrance with its speed reduction

Crew Speed

Pick a crew size with the tabs (1 Mover to 8 Movers). The first row, with a 0% reduction (usually the ground floor), holds that crew's speed on the flat in Cubic Feet per Hour (pounds, if you size moves in pounds). Crews bigger than 8 work at the 8-mover speed.

Every other row is an entrance — stairs by floor, an elevator, and so on — with its Speed Reduction; the speed it leaves is shown beside it. Click a row to select it, click it again to edit; Add and Delete sit at the top. Drag rows to reorder them: the order ranks how hard an entrance is, which your crew size rules use.

Show to Customer offers the entrance on your website forms. Customer Description is the wording for it.

What slows the crew

At each stop the crew's speed is cut by:

  1. the stop's entrance;
  2. for an elevator, the floor group it falls in (see Elevator Floors below);
  3. the Parking Distance — how far the crew walks from the truck to the door.

Each cut takes its percent off what's left. A 250 cu ft/hour crew with stairs at 20% and a 100-foot walk at 10%: 250 → 200 → 180 cu ft an hour.

How the speed becomes hours

  • Loading is 60% of the size at the pickup's speed.
  • Unloading is 40% of the size at the delivery's speed.

A 1,000 cu ft move at 180 cu ft/hour to load and 250 to unload: 600 ÷ 180 = 3:20, plus 400 ÷ 250 = 1:36 — 4:56 of labor before the spread and the minimum.

Elevator Floors

Add floor ranges (for example floors 10–20) with an Additional Reduction. It applies only when a stop's entrance is an elevator and its floor is picked, on top of the elevator's own reduction. With no ranges, an elevator is the same on every floor.

Parking Distance

Each distance (for example "50–100 ft") has a Speed Reduction. Do not know is always there for customers who aren't sure.

Packing and Unpacking

These rows add time rather than cut speed:

  • Packing — a partial or full packing row's percent is added to the loading time. With Full Packing at 47%, a 3:00 load becomes about 4:25.
  • Unpacking — the same for the unloading time. Unpacking can't be more than the packing chosen on the order.

The order's choice is made in the Materials pop-up on Quote Details — see Packing and unpacking prices.
