Every move type you take is priced by one long-distance method. The method is a kind of tariff; the tariff of that kind marked Is Active prices the move type's orders. You can keep several tariffs and pick another one on a single order.
The six methods
| Method | How the line haul is worked out | Good for |
|---|---|---|
| Mileage | A grid: distance ranges down the side, size ranges (pounds or cubic feet) across the top, a rate in each cell. | Most companies — the ready "Standard Mileage" tariff is one. |
| 400N-style | A rate per 100 lbs by mileage band and weight bracket, a minimum weight, a discount off the tariff, and accessorial sections. | Companies that quote from a 400N-type tariff. |
| Single Factor Rate | One all-inclusive rate per 100 lbs by distance band (or state to state), or a percent off another of your tariffs. | A simple "one number" price. |
| Cubic Foot | A rate per cubic foot by distance band, with a minimum size and minimum charge. | Companies that sell by volume. |
| Flat Rate LD | A flat price by move size and distance band. | Set prices on popular lanes. |
| Regions Tariff | A price per route between states, regions or area codes, with seasons. | Companies with fixed regional pricing. |
Make a method the default
- Build the tariff on its own page under Settings › Long distance (for example Cubic foot tariff) and switch it to Is Active.
- Open Settings › Long distance › Method.
- Pick the move type at the top (Residential, Commercial, Military — only the ones you take show).
- Press the method's tile. It saves straight away; there is no Save button.
- To use the same method for every move type, press Copy to other move types and answer Yes to CONFIRMATION.
A method's tile is greyed until the move type has an active tariff of that kind. The Every move type card lists the method each move type uses.
Use another tariff on one order
On the order's Move card, the Tariff row shows Company default (…). Pick any other tariff of the order's move type from the list — they are grouped by kind. Press SAVE: the rate is looked up again and the change is written in the order's history. Typing over the Rate per … row changes the rate for this order only; the small arrow beside it puts the tariff's rate back.
If something goes wrong
- In order to use the mileage tariff method, you must have an active mileage tariff that is compatible with the specific move type you are working with — open Mileage tariff, pick the move type and switch a tariff to Is Active.
- There is no active … tariff for this move type. Mark one "Is Active" on the … page first. — the same for the other kinds.
