Carry one order on two trucks of the same trip, or in parts on different trips — and deliver part of a stored shipment now and the rest later.

A large order may not fit one truck, or part of it may need to go now and part later. MoveBoard handles three cases. Federal rules let a carrier split a shipment this way (49 CFR 375.705).

Between trucks of the same trip

  1. Open the trip, go to the Orders tab and save any changes.
  2. On the order, press Split between trucks.
  3. Give each truck its share in cu ft and lb. The shares must add up to the order.
  4. Press Use this split, then SAVE.

The capacity bars count each truck's share. The order's money counts in full on the trip. Press Change the split to change it.

Across trips

  1. On the order's row, press Split across trips. (Save the trip first: Save the trip first: the split acts at once.)
  2. Give each part its cu ft and lb.
  3. Press Split it.

Part 1 stays on this trip. The other parts wait on the Trip Planner's Deliveries to plan list until you put them on a trip. On each trip a part is its own shipment: its size fills that trip's trucks, its stops are that trip's stops, and its share of the order's money is its share of the cubic feet. The order shows Split across trips: part 1 (… cu ft / … lb) trip #12 · part 2 (…) not on a trip yet. The order is delivered when its last part is.

Undo the split across trips puts the parts back together — only while no other part is on a trip.

Part out of storage now, the rest later

On Trips › SIT, press Partial out… on the stay. Enter the Cu ft going out and Lb going out. That part is ready for a delivery trip; the rest stays in the warehouse. When the rest can go, press Deliver the rest — it goes on Deliveries to plan too: The rest is ready for a delivery trip: it is on the Trip Planner's Deliveries to plan list.
