Which bill of lading long distance uses
Choose whether long-distance jobs use your own bill of lading templates or MoveBoard's federal long-distance bill — and read the federal checklist for your own.

Every long-distance job shows exactly one bill of lading — on the crew's phone, in the office, on the customer's portal and in the PDFs. You choose which one, once for each branch.
The two choices
Open Settings › Documents & bill of lading › Bill of lading. The Long-distance bill of lading card is at the top:
- Use our bill of lading — Long-distance jobs use your own templates below, like every other job. The crew signs, takes payment and submits on it.
- Use MoveBoard's federal long-distance bill of lading — a bill built for the federal rules (49 CFR 375.505): scale weights and the weight ticket, re-weigh, services ordered and performed, valuation, the re-rate on the actual weight, what may be collected at delivery, and the pickup and delivery signatures. Your templates' terms and conditions are printed with it, and the crew takes payment and submits on it.

The federal checklist
Under the choice, Federal checklist for your own bill (49 CFR 375.505) compares your long-distance template with what an interstate household-goods bill of lading must carry — for example:
- Carrier name, address and U.S. DOT number; any other carriers
- Truck and trailer numbers
- Scale weights: tare, gross, net, the weight ticket and a re-weigh
- The valuation choice, signed
Each line is ticked On your template. or says what is missing, and why it matters. It is for information only — nothing is blocked. If you have no long-distance template yet, it says so: MoveBoard's federal bill carries all of these.
What the crew sees
The crew's phone opens the chosen bill on every long-distance job. See Long-distance bill of lading for what they fill in at pickup and at delivery.
