Block time keeps a truck out of use for a stretch of time, with a reason everyone can read. You can block a truck on its own, or hold time attached to an order (for example, the truck is loaded the night before).

Before you start

You need access to Dispatch and the dispatch permission to change the truck. Without it you can see blocked time but not add or change it.

Block a truck

  1. Open an order and go to its truck schedule (see The truck schedule in the order).
  2. Press Block time.
  3. Under Why is it blocked?, type the reason — for example "Loaded, leaves tomorrow 7 AM".
  4. Pick the Truck, the Day, From (start time) and Hours (half-hour steps, up to 24).
  5. Add a Note if you like, and press Block it.

Hold time for this order

  1. In the same pop-up, tick Attach it to order #….
  2. Say what the time is held for.
  3. Pick the Truck — any truck, not only the order's own. It starts on the order's truck for that day; pick another one if the order's truck is busy.
  4. Set the Day, From and Hours. The day can be any day — for example the day after a long-distance pickup, while the loaded truck drives overnight.
  5. Press Block it.

You can hold one block per order per day. For a truck that drives through the night, hold the rest of the first day on one block and the next day on another.

Where the held time goes when the order changes:

  • On a day the order runs, it moves with the order: if the order is rescheduled, the hold moves with it. If it sits on the order's own truck, it also follows the order to another truck; if you picked a different truck, it stays on that truck.
  • On any other day, it stays on its day and truck until you change it.

Keep the schedule in sight

  • Drag the pop-up by its title bar to move it out of the way (or press its title bar and use the arrow keys). It stays where you put it until you sign out.
  • While it is open, press an empty time on a truck's row in the schedule: the pop-up's Day, From and Truck fill in from where you pressed.
  • On a phone the pop-up fills the screen as before.

Change, lock or let go

Press a block on the truck schedule to open it:

  • change it and press Save;
  • Lock in place — nobody can move or change it until it's unlocked (Unlock);
  • Let it go — removes it;
  • History of this block — who made, moved, locked and released it. The pop-up's History for this day tab shows the same for every block that day.

Where blocked time shows

  • On the order window's truck schedule and on the Calendar's truck timelines, as a band with its reason.
  • A truck that's blocked can't take a booked or reserved job at that time — MoveBoard refuses and names the block.
  • On the Dispatch board, as a dark band on the truck's row with its reason: plain blocked time, time held for an order, a trip's truck and long-distance deliveries. Hover it for the hours (held all day, held 9:00–11:00). Time held for an order that is still a quote is drawn lighter — it blocks nothing yet.
  • A truck's open time on the Dispatch board (when your company counts trucks by open hours) leaves out its blocked and held time, as Settings › Dispatch › Trucks says.

If something goes wrong

  • Say why this truck is blocked (for example "Loaded, leaves tomorrow 7 AM"). / Say what the time is held for… — shown in red under the box, which is outlined and ready to type in.
  • Order … already has time held on Fri, Oct 30; change that one. — one held block per order per day: open the one already there.
  • Held time has to start within 14 days of one of the order's days.
  • Pick the truck to hold.
  • Pick the truck to block. / For how many hours?
  • This order has no start time yet, so there is nothing to attach the time to.
  • Hold the truck for at least 15 minutes.
  • A truck cannot be held for more than 14 days. / The hold has to start within 14 days of the job.
  • This hold is locked. Unlock it first to change it.
  • A refusal naming what's in the way, such as another booked job or block on that truck. Pick another truck that is free at that time.
