Warnings: double-booked people and trucks

When a person, crew or truck is already busy, MoveBoard warns you and lets you decide — only a booked truck clash is a hard stop.

Dispatch days change by the minute, so MoveBoard warns rather than blocks when people overlap. You see what's in the way and choose.

Before you assign: what the lists tell you

  • In Assign Personnel, a name already on another job today reads (already out today). You can still pick it.
  • On the Crew Schedule, Personnel shows a green dot for people free today and grey for people already on a crew or off for the whole day.
  • In a crew card's Truck list, a truck already on another crew shows where it is (on Crew 3). You can still pick it.
  • People with time off show Asked · … or Off · … next to their name.

Questions MoveBoard asks

When you drop a crew on a job, it may ask first. Each one has Yes, proceed and No, cancel:

  • Crew already assigned to job 1234 during this time. There is a conflict with the time overlapping. Do you wish to proceed anyways and assign crew to this job ? — the crew is busy on another job at the same time.
  • You are able to assign a second crew, do you wish to confirm? — the job already has a crew; yes adds this one beside it.
  • This job is already completed and its payroll has been calculated. Changing the crew now will not update it. Do you wish to proceed?
  • This job still has 1 truck on Unassigned. Continue anyway? — a reminder that the job isn't on a real truck yet (Continue / Go back).

Box deliveries and crews

A person booked for a box delivery can't be in two places either. Whenever you put someone on a crew — dragging a crew onto a job, Assign Crew, Assign Personnel, or a spot on the Crew Schedule — and that person has a box delivery whose window runs into the crew's time, MoveBoard asks before saving:

This crew member is currently scheduled for a box delivery at this time. Do you still wish to add them to this crew?

Under it you see who and which delivery (for example Johnny Walker — box delivery B-1004, Oct 8, 8–10 AM). Yes saves the crew; Cancel saves nothing and puts the crew back as it was.

The crew's time is the job's start for its estimated hours. On the Crew Schedule it is the time of the jobs the crew runs that day, or — no job yet — from its report time to the end of the day. A delivery holds its whole window. People already on the crew are not asked about again, and a delivery that is delivered or cancelled holds nobody.

It works the other way too: booking or moving a box delivery for someone already on a crew then asks This crew member is currently already dispatched to Order #… at this time. Do you still wish to schedule them for this box delivery? — see Book a box delivery from an order.

Heads-ups after saving

When you save a crew in Assign Personnel, MoveBoard saves it and then lists any clash under Saved, with a heads-up: — for example Dana Ruiz is already on order 2187 at the same time. Nothing is undone; it's there so you can fix it if you didn't mean it.

What is a hard stop

These are refused, because the truck really can't be in two places:

  • Sorry, the current truck is already scheduled for this time — dragging a job onto a truck that has another job then.
  • Spot is taken by booked order … on … — Thu, Oct 29, 1 PM. (the order, truck, day and time in the way) — see Overlapping jobs on one truck.
  • Assigned Job cannot be assigned to unassigned truck — a job with a crew must be on a real truck.
  • Your job is in a reserved status. You cannot assign a crew until your job has been booked.
