Choosing protection (valuation) in the portal
How a customer picks their protection plan — released value, your third option, or full value protection with a deductible — and what changes on the order.

On Home, Add-On Services › Protection Plan opens the customer's protection choice (it's also in the menu under Insurance).
The choices
- Released value protection — the basic coverage included by law at no extra cost.
- Your company's third option, if you offer one (for example a third-party plan).
- Full value protection — the customer chooses: - Amount of liability — starts at your default for the move; they can change it when you allow that. - A deductible — each with its price, worked out for that amount.
Each plan shows its explanation; one may be marked Recommended. Add picks a plan; Remove goes back to released value. Save saves it — Your protection choice was saved.
If you offer full value protection but don't let customers choose it themselves, they see Request Full value protection instead — the request goes to you, and the button turns to Request sent.
What changes
The valuation charge is added to (or taken off) the quote, and the order's Quote Details show it. The choice is what a damage claim is later measured against — see Report damage.
When they can't change it
- Once the move is reserved or booked: Valuation cannot be updated because your job is currently booked. Please contact your moving specialist to discuss your changes.
- Choose protection plan off in the designer: Your moving company sets your protection plan with you — please contact them.
- While the quote is being prepared: Your protection options come with your quote.
Messages they might see
- Liability amount exceeded. The most that can be covered is $… — the amount is above your maximum.
- Plans not setup — no deductible plans are set up for this amount; set them up in your valuation settings.
- Plan has been changed — your plans changed while they were choosing; they pick again.
