Leads and orders
| Word | What it means |
|---|---|
| Lead | A new enquiry: an order that isn't booked yet. |
| Order | One customer's move, from first call to final payment, with its own Order ID. It can have several days. |
| Job | The crew's work on one day or leg of an order — a pickup or a delivery. |
| Order window | The window an order opens in. Keep several open; minimise them to the bar along the bottom. |
| Status | Where an order stands: New, Follow Up, Can Book Online, Reserved, Booked, Completed, Postponed, Cancelled, Expired and so on. |
| Can Book Online | The customer can book and pay the deposit themselves from their portal. |
| Reserved | The date is held for the customer. |
| Booked | The job is confirmed. |
| Lost lead | A lead that won't book: not available, expired, dead, bad, or not interested. |
| Archived | Hidden from lists and never counted in money figures. |
| Lead source | Where the lead came from — "How did you hear about us?" |
| Lead score | How warm a lead is, earned only by what the customer does (opening the quote, building an inventory…). |
| Assign to / sales rep | The salesperson who owns the order. |
The move and its price
| Word | What it means |
|---|---|
| Move type | Residential, commercial or military (your company can rename them). |
| Service type | What's sold: local move, moving and storage, long distance, labor only, packing… |
| Local / long distance | Decided by distance. Long distance is intrastate (in one state) or interstate (across state lines). |
| Move size | The size picked for the move (studio, rooms…), which gives a volume. |
| Cu ft (cubic feet) | How much space the goods take. MoveBoard also shows it as weight (lbs). |
| Inventory | The list of items. Customers can build their own in the portal. |
| Special item | Something that needs extra care — a piano, a safe, a pool table. |
| Crew size / trucks | How many movers and how many trucks. |
| Hourly rate | The price per hour for the crew size. Minimum hours is the least that's charged. |
| Labor time | The estimated working hours, worked out by the calculator. |
| Travel time | Time from your office to the first stop and back from the last. Double driving time charges driving between stops twice, where your company does that. |
| Arrival window | The time range the crew may arrive. The requested arrival window is what the customer asked for; TBD means not set yet. |
| Estimate type | How the price is promised: binding, non-binding, not to exceed, flat rate. |
| Not to exceed (NTE) | The customer won't pay more than this figure. |
| Flat rate | One fixed price instead of hourly. |
| Quote | The price range shown to the customer. The Grand Total is every charge, less any discount, plus taxes. |
| Deposit | What the customer pays to reserve the move. The deposit link is their own link to pay it. |
| Fuel surcharge | A fuel charge added to the quote, flat or a percentage. |
| Materials | Boxes, tape and the like, sold to the customer. Additional services are extras such as piano handling or crating. |
Protection, paperwork and claims
| Word | What it means |
|---|---|
| Valuation | How much the mover is liable for if goods are lost or damaged. Not insurance, but often called that. |
| Released value | The basic, no-charge protection: 60 cents per pound per item. |
| Full Value Protection (FVP) | The mover repairs, replaces or pays the current value of a lost or damaged item, up to the declared value, less any deductible. |
| Order for Service | The document the customer signs before the work starts. |
| Bill of lading (BOL) | The job's contract and receipt. The foreman fills it in on the Mover's Portal and the customer signs it. |
| Closing | What the job actually came to, from the bill of lading. |
| Change order | A signed change to the agreed services or price during the job. |
| Release form | A form the customer signs to accept a risk, for example moving an item already damaged. |
| Claim | A customer's report of damage or loss, with a CL number, worked on the Claims page. |
| COI (certificate of insurance) | Proof of insurance that a building often asks for before a move. |
