On this page
When your crews use the movers' phone app, every move day (every job) can have one conversation between three people: the customer, that day's foreman, and your office. Everyone sees everything said in it.
Where each person writes
- The customer — on the live map link from the crew's arrival-time text. The top of the page says Mike is your foreman with a Message Mike button. They can also open Job chat in their portal's menu (a move of several days has a tab per day).
- The foreman — in the movers' phone app: the message button sits on every screen of the job, from En Route to the end of the bill of lading, with a red count of unread messages. He gets a notification on his phone when the customer or the office writes. With no signal, his message waits on the phone and goes as soon as the signal is back.
- Your office — in the order window: Job chat sits above the tracking strip, with your own unread count. Press it to read and write.
- Dispatch — on the Dispatch board, a job with new messages from the customer or the foreman shows a small chat icon with a red count at the right end of the white crew bar under its card (the strip with the foreman's name). Press it — or Chat in the pop-up over the foreman's name, beside Bill of Lading — and the chat opens right on the board; read it and the count goes. Counts appear within seconds of a new message.
What each person sees
Names only — never anyone's phone number or email.
- Your office and the foreman see Mike R. · Foreman, Sarah · Office and Customer: Jane Doe.
- The customer sees Mike · Foreman and Sarah · Office (your company name) — first names only.
Who is told
- The customer, when the foreman or your office writes and they don't have the chat open: one text with a link back to the chat (an email if they don't take texts). A few messages in a row are one text — the next one waits until they have read the chat. Nothing is sent during your quiet hours (Communication › Workflows).
- The foreman: a notification on his phone for the customer's and the office's messages.
- Your office: as each person set it in their notifications (App, Email, Text) — the customer's messages are When a customer sends a message; the foreman's have their own, When a foreman writes in the job chat (next to When an employee sends a message). By position it starts on in the app for managers and dispatchers, and for a salesperson on their own orders; everyone else starts off. Change it per person in Settings › Notifications.
How long it stays open
The chat is open for the whole job. After the bill of lading is submitted it stays open for 24 hours (the screen says until when), then it can only be read.
In the order log
Every message, from anyone, is also one line in the order log: who wrote it and what they wrote.
Who can write
- Your office: anyone who can open the order.
- The crew: the job's foreman only.
- The customer: with their live map link or their portal.
Switch it on in Settings › Customer experience › Job chat — see Job chat settings.
