Where customers tip
- On the bill of lading — the first step of the crew's payment asks Would you like to tip your movers? with 10, 15, 20 and 25 % buttons, a custom amount, or Skip. See Payments on the bill of lading.
- On an invoice — when the customer pays an invoice online.
A deposit never carries a tip (A deposit carries no tip.).
Card tips and cash tips
| Card (or your own payment type) | Cash | |
|---|---|---|
| Is it in the amount charged? | Yes — the tip is added to the payment. | No — it's handed straight to the crew. |
| Card fee | The card fee is worked out on the amount including the tip. | — |
| Cash discount | — | Never taken off a tip. |
| On the payment | A Tip line. | A Cash tip line. |
Tips and your numbers
- Tips pass through to the crew, so the job's Revenue leaves them out, and payroll's tip lines are left out of its costs. See Profit on this job.
- A percentage commission can leave tips out of what it counts — set in each person's What's included on payroll. See Payroll from the order.
