On Storage › Units each unit has one Edit unit pop-up with everything about it, a way to give it back to the facility, and the Time Machine shows the whole board as it was on any past day.
Before you start
Editing, returning and deleting a unit need Can change storage units. The price, the next charge date and the account need the storage billing permission too. The Time Machine is open to everyone who has the Storage tab.
Edit a unit
Open Edit unit from any of these — it is the same pop-up:
- the small pencil under a unit on the board,
- Edit unit in the unit's own pop-up,
- Edit unit in the unit opened big (press the unit's name).
In it:
| Field | What it does |
|---|---|
| Location | Pick another location of your branch to move the unit there. Its tenants go with it. A rented unit moves only to a place with rented units, a vault only to a warehouse. |
| Unit number | Must be free at that location. |
| Width / Depth / Height (ft) | The size; Holds shows the cubic feet it gives. |
| Capacity (cu ft) | Type it when the unit really holds a different amount than its size says. Leave it empty to use the size. Room left typed on the board still wins for today's goods. |
| Price / month ($) | What your company pays the facility. |
| Next charge date | The day the facility bills you next, picked on the calendar. After that date the unit bills on the same day every month, and Bills next counts down to it. Empty means no bill. |
| Account (last digits) | The account or card the facility charges. |
| Notes | Anything else. |
Save changes appears only when something really changed; change a field back and it goes away. Cancel closes without saving.
With Use storage units on, moving a unit to a location of another facility also moves its tenants' facility (see Use storage units).
Return a unit to the facility
When you give a rented unit back:
- Press Return this unit… at the bottom of Edit unit — or Return unit in the unit's pop-up or in the unit opened big.
- Read the question, for example Return #1024 to Newton? Its 2 tenants go back to Coming.
- Press Yes, return it.
Its tenants go back to the left list (Coming, or Not placed when the branch uses storage units) so you can place them elsewhere. The unit is kept, folded under Returned units at the bottom of its location, with Re-rent to bring it back.
Delete a unit
Delete… removes a unit you added by mistake. It works only on an empty unit; while tenants are in it the button is off and says Take the tenants out first.
The Time Machine
On the left of All · Available is one row: TIME MACHINE, the year, then the twelve months.
- Months with records are dark; months with none (or still ahead) are dashed and can't be picked. Press the year to switch to another year that has records.
- Press a month: it turns yellow and a row of its days opens, in the same colours.
- Press a day. The board shows as it was at the end of that day: the units, which tenants were in which unit, the free space, what billed next.
- A bar at the top says Viewing Oct 3, 2026 · end of the day · read-only. Nothing can be dragged or changed while you look at the past.
- Press Back to today (or the yellow month again) to return to the live board.
On a phone the year and the months slide sideways in their own row; the days wrap.
Where a past day comes from:
- A night's record. Every night, shortly after midnight, MoveBoard keeps a copy of each branch's board. Records are kept for at least two years.
- The units' history. For a day with no night's record, the board is worked out from the history of every change (placed, moved, taken out, returned…). Where blocks sat inside a unit is drawn as today.
- A day before anything was recorded says so: Nothing was recorded on the Units board before Oct 14, 2026.
Ed answers it too: ask "What was in unit 1024 on Oct 3?"
If something goes wrong
- "A unit moves only to a location of the same kind (rented units)." — pick a place of the same kind, or add the unit there instead.
- "There is already a unit #1179 at this location. Pick another number." — change the number in the same pop-up, then save.
- "The next charge date is today or later." — pick today or a later day; for a unit with no bill, clear the date.
- "Tenants are still in this unit. Take them out first." — move or take out its tenants on the board, then delete.
