On this page

MoveBoard texts customers and crews from your company's own business number. Three things make it work: the number, the registration with the mobile carriers, and a balance that pays for the texts.

Your number

Your texting number is set up with you by the MoveBoard team and shows in Settings › Communication › Text messages under SMS Phone number. Buying a new number from the page isn't offered — ask the MoveBoard team.

Customers can text back to it: their replies land on the right order's conversation, and your team is notified. If they call it, you can have the call ring a phone of your choice — see Call forwarding.

Registration (A2P 10DLC)

US carriers deliver business texts only from registered businesses. Until your registration is approved, no text goes out — not from an order, a workflow or the deposit link — and incoming texts and call forwarding are off. The page shows a warning until then, and Your company is approved to send SMS. once it's done. See Texting registration.

Keep Enable SMS on the whole time: switching it off during registration can delay approval.

Switch texting on

  1. Open Settings › Communication › Text messages.
  2. Switch on Enable SMS.
  3. Press Save.

What texting costs

Texts are paid from your prepaid balance — per message part sent or received, plus the number's monthly rental and forwarded call minutes. Current month on the page shows this month's figures, and Free in/out sms segments left: shows any free messages left this month (they reset on the 1st).

Top up and set auto-recharge in Settings › Payments & billing › Balance & usage — see Texting balance. At $0, texting pauses until you top up.

Who gets texts

MoveBoard won't text a customer who replied STOP, a number that can't receive texts, or a contact you switched off — see Texting rules and opt-outs.

RingCentral texting

If your company uses RingCentral, your calls go through RingCentral — but customer texts still go from your MoveBoard texting number. See RingCentral phone.
