Leads you buy — from Angi and other providers — can come straight into MoveBoard, without anyone typing them in. Each becomes a New order the moment it arrives, and your team gets the New lead notification.
Before you start
Lead providers are connected for you by the MoveBoard team. Tell support which providers you buy from. Angi sends its leads to your company's own Angi address; nothing else needs setting up. If you'd like Angi to send a private key with every lead as well, ask support — once a branch has a key, a lead without it is turned away. HomeAdvisor and other sellers post their leads through the lead API; MoveBoard understands HomeAdvisor's own field names. MoveBoard doesn't read lead emails — see Leads from emails.
What arrives
For each lead, MoveBoard:
- Looks up the provider by name in your lead sources. Angi Leads and Angi Ads have their own names; a provider MoveBoard doesn't know comes in as Other.
- Creates the customer (or finds them by email) and the order. A lead with no name gets _ for the name; a lead needs at least an email or a phone number.
- Sets the move date. A lead with no move date is set 10 days from today, and a note on the order says so.
- Sets the move size: the size the provider names (by its number in your size list or by its name), else the first size in your Move size list.
- Sets the addresses. Where the customer is moving from is used as sent. An Angi lead goes to your company's address (Angi doesn't say where the customer is going). For other providers, an address that's missing or has a ZIP code that isn't US or Canadian is placed on your company's address with the lead's city, state and ZIP on top, so what the provider sent is kept.
- Picks the service from the two ZIP codes — local, intrastate or interstate — unless the lead names one. Angi leads get your first active service.
- Files the phone numbers and the email.
- Adds notes: the customer's comments as a note, the provider's own notes as a sales note, and the whole lead as received in a sales note headed === EXTERNAL LEAD DETAILS === — including every extra detail the provider sends (Angi's job number, lead fee, task name, interview answers…) under ADDITIONAL PROPERTIES.
- Hands the lead to a salesperson by your assignment rules.
If Google can't find the address the provider sent, the lead still comes in on your company's address, and the sales note starts with External lead: address could not be geocoded automatically.
The source stays locked
A provider lead's Source can't be changed on the order, so your reports — and what each provider costs you — stay right. Lead providers appear in their own card in Settings › Sales & orders › Lead sources; you can switch them on or off but not rename them.
To compare what each provider costs with what it brings in, set its cost and look at the Lead Acquisition Costs report — see Lead cost setup.
Duplicates
A provider that sends the same lead twice — same branch, email, phone, move date and ZIP codes (just the pickup ZIP when the lead has no destination) — is refused the second time with The order already exists in the system. Only one order is made.
Customers aren't signed in
A provider lead never signs the customer in to their portal by itself, as a quote from your own website does. Send them their links from the order as usual.
If something goes wrong
- A provider's leads stopped arriving — ask the MoveBoard team to check the connection. Support sees every post each provider made to your company, with what came of it, so they can tell you at once whether the provider is still sending.
- Leads arrive as Other — the provider's name doesn't match any of your sources; ask support to match it.
