Lead source costs and ROI

Tell MoveBoard what each lead source costs you — per lead, per month, or both — so the Lead Acquisition Costs report can show cost per lead, cost per booking and ROI.

The Lead Acquisition Costs report works out what each lead and each booking cost you. It needs to know what you pay each source.

Before you start

Only company admins see and set costs. Nobody else is even sent them.

Set a source's cost

  1. Open Settings › Sales & orders › Lead sources.
  2. Under each source is its cost today, or Cost not set. Click it — the What … costs pop-up opens.
  3. Choose the Kind of cost: - Cost per lead — "Use this option when you pay a fixed amount for each lead received." - Monthly spend — "Use this option when you have a fixed monthly advertising budget. The monthly cost will be distributed across the reporting period for accurate cost tracking."
  4. Type the amount.
  5. Starting — the day it starts. Leave it blank to set it from the start (every past month too); with a date, earlier days keep what they had.
  6. Press Add this cost, then Done.

A source can have both kinds.

Change it later

Add a new cost with a new Starting date — a price rise from next month, say. The History lists every cost, with In force today, Starts later or Earlier, and who entered it when. Take back removes one entered by mistake.

Read the report

Open Reports › Lead Acquisition Costs (needs Can see Income Report). For each source: spend, leads, cost per lead, bookings, cost per booking and ROI. A source with no cost reads "Cost not set".

A monthly spend is the whole source's: filters narrow the leads it is divided by, not the spend.

If something goes wrong

  • "That amount already starts on that day." — it's already there; pick another date or amount.
