Postponed orders cancel by themselves

Let MoveBoard cancel a move that has stayed Postponed too long — how to set the time, what the customer and your team hear, and how to get the order back.

A postponed move often never comes back. Rather than leave it on your books for ever, MoveBoard can cancel it after a set time.

Set it

  1. Open Settings › Sales & orders › Postponed orders.
  2. Under Automatically cancel postponed orders after, pick 1 month, 2 months, 3 months, 6 months or 1 year — or Never.
  3. Save.

Never is the default: postponed orders stay postponed until someone changes them.

What happens

MoveBoard checks every few minutes. When a postponed order has stayed Postponed for the time you chose (counted on your branch's calendar from the day it was postponed):

  • The order moves to Cancel. The Order Log says, for example, changed status to Cancelled automatically: postponed on May 10, 2026, 3 months passed. — by the system, not a person.
  • The customer gets your cancellation message, if your company sends one when an order is cancelled.
  • The order's salesperson and your company admins are told once, through their own App / Email / Text choices.
  • In reports the cancellation is dated the day the order was postponed.

An order that was taken out of Postponed in the meantime — even briefly — starts counting again from its next postponement, and is never cancelled twice.

Bring one back

Open the cancelled order, check the date and price, and change its status back. Nothing about the order was deleted.
