Some status changes happen without anyone pressing a button. They're set in Settings › Sales & orders › Expiration rules, per move type. The full guide is Quotes that expire; here's how they fit with your automation.

What changes by itself

These changes run during the day, between 8 AM and 9 PM your branch's time. Booked, reserved and completed jobs are never touched.

They count as moments

An automatic status change is a status change like any other:

  • Your templates for Expired or New Lead Past go to the customer, if you send any.
  • A workflow whose When is "An order expires" or "An order's status changes" starts.
  • The office hears of it through the Order status changed notification, for whoever has it on.

So you can, for example, build a workflow "When an order expires → create a task for the sales rep to call and re-quote".

How to tell it was automatic

The Order Log gives the reason, for example Expiration Rule: Move not Booked/Reserved on current business day. — no person's name.
