Item fees on the bill

How an inventory item's extra fee — a piano's heavy-carry fee — shows on the quote and the bill of lading as its own line, and why the crew can't change it.

Some items cost more to move: a piano, a safe, a pool table. When an item in your library has an Extra Fee, putting it on an inventory adds the fee to the move — and it shows as its own line everywhere the move's extra services are listed.

Where the fee comes from

The item's Extra Service Name and Extra Fee in Settings › Inventory › Inventory items — one pair for hourly and local moves, another for long distance. A long-distance move uses the long-distance fee; any other move the hourly one. See Your item library.

Where it shows

  • The quote — the fee is part of Additional Services on the order, named by its Extra Service Name (or Extra service fee when the item has none), so the customer sees it on their quote.
  • The local bill of lading — a line in its Additional Services table, counted in Total Additional Services, and in the crew's Services block.
  • The long-distance bill of lading — a line in its breakdown.

Each item is one line: the price is the fee and the quantity is how many are moving. Two pianos, two times the fee. A line marked Not shipped isn't moved and carries no fee. Junk removal days never carry these fees.

Why the crew can't change it

The fee belongs to the item, not to the bill. On the crew's phone it shows first under Additional Services, fixed — it can't be edited or removed on the bill. It changes only when the inventory does:

  • the office takes the item off (or marks it not shipped) and the fee goes with it;
  • a change order on the day adds items to the inventory, and their fees come with them — see Write a change order.

Checking it

On the order, open Additional Services: inventory fees are listed with the rest, marked as coming from the inventory. On the crew's phone, the inventory itself is on Job Details › CuFt/Lbs — see Inventory on the job.
