How AI reads photos and lists into items

The AI picks items from your own item list and counts them — sizes always come from your list — so the same photo or the same list always gives the same items, rooms, cu ft and boxes.

The same thing happens whether your customer uses Build with AI in their portal or you use Create with AI in the order's inventory.

Your list, your sizes

The AI only picks items from your item library (Settings › Inventory › Items) for the move type, including the right size of each — Sofa · 3 Seater, Mattress & Box Spring · Queen, Flat Panel TV · 46 To 55 Inch — and counts them. The cu ft and lbs always come from your library, never from the AI. Something your library doesn't have comes in as a custom item at a fixed size: small 3 cu ft, medium 10, large 25, extra large 50.

So the more complete your library (with its size variants and descriptions), the better the AI's picks.

The same photo, the same answer

A photo that was read once is never read again: the answer is kept, and the same photo — uploaded again, by the customer or by you, on any device — gets exactly the same items, rooms, cu ft and boxes, instantly and at no cost. The same pasted list works the same way. A change to your item list or rooms means photos are read fresh against the new list.

Small things become boxes

Books, dishes and glasses, kitchenware, pantry items, clothes (folded and on hangers), shoes, bedding, decor, toys, small electronics, papers, bathroom items and tools are not listed one by one. The AI counts them and they are packed into your own box items by a fixed rule:

Loose thingsBoxAbout per box
Books, papers, bathroom items, toolsSmall box25 books · 20 papers · 30 bathroom items · 10 tools
Kitchenware, pantry, folded clothes, shoes, decor, small electronicsMedium box12 · 25 · 25 · 8 pairs · 12 · 5
Bedding and linens, toysLarge box6 · 15
Clothes on hangersWardrobe box20
Dishes and glassesDish/china box30

Each box line says what it holds (Packed: Books ~30). If your library has no box of a kind, the next size is used (no dish box → medium box); with no boxes at all, standard cartons come in as custom items.

Rooms

Each photo is put in one room from your room list (or no room when the AI isn't sure — then it goes to the room that's open). Several photos of the same room are one room, and something seen in two of them is counted once. Bedrooms with different beds become Bedroom and Bedroom 2.

Spreadsheets

A spreadsheet needs no AI and is matched to your library exactly: a row's name, plus its description or cu ft, picks the size — Sofa with 3 Seater, Sofa, 3 Seater, or Sofa at 60 cu ft are all your 3-seater sofa. See Import an inventory from a spreadsheet.

Always check

Photos can hide things (behind a door, inside a closet) and the AI can pick a neighbour size. Every line can be changed or removed before it's saved.
