A customer or a relocation company sometimes sends the inventory as a spreadsheet. Import it instead of typing it.

The file

A CSV, .xlsx or .xls file with:

  • a Name (or Item) column, and a Quantity column — needed;
  • Room, Cubic Feet, Pounds and Description — read when they're there.

The first row holds the column names. Any other columns are ignored.

Import it

  1. Open the order and press Inventory.
  2. Press Create with AI.
  3. Under Import CSV / Excel, press Choose a file and pick the spreadsheet.
  4. The items land in the inventory: Added 24 items (3 not in your list, added as custom). Review them, then SUBMIT. Rows with a Room go into that room.
  5. Look through In this move. Lines the import added are marked so you can spot them. Change quantities or sizes with Size and details, or Remove a line.
  6. Press SUBMIT to save the inventory and re-price the move.

Nothing is saved until you press SUBMIT — closing first asks whether to save.

How names match

A name that's in your item library uses the library's size and weight, so the quote follows your numbers. A name that isn't becomes a custom item with the sheet's Cubic Feet and Pounds (or none, if the sheet has none — add them with Size and details).

Tip: before importing a long list, rename obvious mismatches in the file ("Couch" → "Sofa") so more lines match your library.

The import needs no AI

The spreadsheet import works for every company. The other two options in Create with AI — Describe items in text and reading Take photos into items — need AI to be set up for your company; until then they say Available once the AI key is added.

Customers can upload a spreadsheet themselves on their portal — see How customers build their inventory.

If something goes wrong

  • That spreadsheet could not be read. — save it again as CSV and try once more, and check it has a Name (or Item) column.
  • Fewer items than expected — rows without a name are skipped; check the Quantity column holds numbers.
