I can't change a field on the order

An order locks in steps to protect the agreed price, the crew's plan and the final numbers. Match the message to the reason.
The job has started
This job has already started, so its quote is locked. Make the changes in the closing. This job has started, so sales can no longer change its addresses. Switch to the closing side to edit them. (or trucks) The contract is signed, so sales are locked. Nothing on the sales side can be changed now.
The customer's first signature on the bill of lading starts the job and locks the sales side of that day. What to do: press VIEW CLOSING INFO and change the same fields there — the closing records what really happened. See The closing view.
The schedule is locked
The contract is signed, so the schedule is locked. Dates, trucks and arrival windows have to be changed before the contract is signed.
Once the job has started, the date, arrival window and trucks are locked on both sides. What to do: if the crew needs another truck on the day, change it on the Dispatch board.
The job is completed
This job is completed — reopen it to make changes. This job is completed, so its status can't be changed. Reopen the job first (Completed ✓ → Reopen order).
What to do: press Completed ✓, then Reopen order, make the change, and complete it again. See Completed jobs and reopening.
The status won't change
A postponed order can only be cancelled, reserved again, or archived by an administrator. — ask an admin.
The price doesn't follow your change
Once the customer agreed to a price, the sold quote is kept even if your settings change. See The sold quote.
Other reasons
- A permission — some fields (the fuel surcharge, the deposit, payroll) need their own permission. Rest your mouse on the greyed field to read why. See A menu item or button is missing.
- Someone else is editing — see Someone else is in this order.
- ALL days — on a multi-day move with ALL picked, pick one day to edit it.
- Archived or deleted — Order ID=… cannot be accessed because it has been deleted/archived earlier or by another user session. Only an admin can find and restore archived orders.
