How the customer's tips reach the crew's pay — split evenly across the crew, never part of a commission.

Tips the customer leaves — on the bill of lading or an invoice — go into the job's payroll for the crew. How customers tip is in Tips.

How tips are split

When the job's payroll is made, the closing's tips are split evenly across the spots on the job's crew. Each person on the crew gets a Tip line with their share (as a percent of the tips) and the amount, rounded to the cent; any leftover penny goes on the first share.

The salesperson doesn't get a share unless they were on the crew.

Changing a share

Open the job's Payroll window and change the Tip line's share or amount, then Submit Payroll (needs Can edit payroll). See Payroll from the order.

If the tips change later on the closing, Update payroll from closing brings the Tip lines up to date: the tips become the closing's, each person's share stays.

Where you see them

  • In the job's payroll, on each crew member's card.
  • On the Accounting page, the Tip column for each department, person and job.
  • In Reports: Tips (by job, payment method, crew and foreman) and Payroll by Employee.

Tips and commissions

Tips are never part of a commission when you set What's included: "Tips belong to the movers and never count toward a commission." (A Commission from Total taken from the whole total, with no rule set, does include them — set What's included to leave them out.) See Commissions and "what's included".
