Commissions and "what's included"
Decide exactly what a percentage commission is taken from — which charges count, and whether it's the estimate, the closing or only what was collected.

A percentage commission — Commission from Total, Packing Commission or Additional Services Commission — is a percent of something. What's included lets you say exactly what.
The simple way: Price type
Each percentage commission on a person's Payroll tab has a Price type: Sales (the estimate) or Closing. With nothing else set, the commission is that percent of the whole figure — for Commission from Total, the whole total, tips, taxes and fees included.
Choose what's included
- Open the person in Users, Payroll tab, and find the commission.
- Press What's included.
- Under How it is worked out, pick: - The whole total (or The whole figure) — "Tips, taxes, card fees, permits and storage all count." - Only the charges ticked below — it starts from the recommended set: the move itself counts; tips, taxes, card fees, storage, valuation, fuel and money passed on to the city do not.
- Taken from: Sales estimate, Closing, or Collected — only what the customer actually paid.
- Tick the charges that count, in Charges, Additional services (your own list) and Fees. Back to the recommended set starts over. Tips are always excluded: "Tips belong to the movers and never count toward a commission."
- Press Apply, then the person window's Save.
The card then reads, for example, "Closing · 12 of 18 charges". With a rule in force, its base replaces the Price type.
What "Collected" means
Only what the customer actually paid counts. The payments (less card fees and tips paid on top) are divided by the closing total (less its tips and card fees); that share of the included charges is the base. Closing $1,000.00, paid $700.00: the commission is on 70% of the included charges.
When it applies
A rule applies to every payroll made after you save it. Payrolls already made keep their figures until you update them — Update payroll from closing on the job uses the person's rule. See Update payroll from the closing.
Check a commission: Show the math
In a job's Payroll window, and on a person's page in Accounting, Show the math under a percentage commission lists the charges its base is made of — what counts, what doesn't (struck through) — the included and excluded sums, the collected share when the base is what was collected, and base × percent = the commission.
Who can
Changing a person's commissions needs Manage employees within the company. A salesperson can't change their own commission on a job's payroll — that needs Can edit payroll.
