Change a mover's hours on the payroll

Click the hours on a person's payroll, type the new hours, press Enter — the order's closing payroll changes with it.

A mover's hours are wrong on their payroll? Fix them right on the Accounting page — no need to open the order.

Before you start

You need the Edit payroll permission. Company admins always have it. Without it the hours are shown as plain numbers.

Change the hours

  1. Open Accounting, then the department, then the person.
  2. On the job's row, click the number under Hours. It turns into a small box.
  3. Type the new hours — 6.25 or 6:15 both mean six and a quarter hours.
  4. Press Enter (or click anywhere else) to save. Esc puts the hours back as they were.

The row's Hourly and Total, and the Totals at the bottom, change at once. A small Saved note shows at the bottom of the screen for five seconds, with Undo if you changed the wrong row.

To fix several rows in a row, press Tab instead of Enter: it saves and moves to the next row's hours (Shift+Tab goes back up).

What changes

It is exactly the same as changing that person's hours in the order's closing Payroll:

  • the person's line on that order's payroll gets the new hours, and their hourly pay is worked out again at their rate;
  • other people on the job, and the customer's bill, don't change;
  • the order's log says who changed it, for example Isaac Raz changed Frank Foreman's hours on #215560: 6.25 → 7.00.

A job that's already paid

If the job is already on a paycheck, you're asked first: This job is already on a paid paycheck. Changing it won't change that paycheck. Change anyway? Press Change anyway to save, or Cancel to leave the hours as they were. The paycheck itself stays as it was — settle the difference on the next one. The order's log notes it, for example Isaac Raz changed Frank Foreman's pay on #215560 after it was paid (paycheck #812345).

The same question comes up when you change a paid person's pay in the order's closing Payroll window.

When the hours can't be changed here

A small lock beside the hours means they can't be changed from this page. Point at it to see why:

  • Archived order — only a company admin can change an archived order's payroll.
  • No hourly pay, or more than one hourly line for the person on that job — change it in the order's closing payroll.

Misc payments (for example a loan or reviews) aren't hours, so they can't be changed this way — double-click the row to open the payment.
