Job payroll
When a job's payroll is made, who is on it, what it is worked out from, and who may see or change it.

Every completed job has a payroll: what the salesperson, the foreman, the driver and the helpers earn on it. MoveBoard makes it by itself; you check it and change it when needed.
When it is made
The moment a job is completed — when the crew submits the bill of lading, or the office closes the job from the closing — MoveBoard makes its payroll, once. A long-distance job has two: one for the pickup and one for the delivery.
If the payroll can't be made, the job is still completed; the payroll simply isn't there yet, and you can make it from the order's Payroll button.
What it is made from
- Who — the order's salesperson (in Sales), then everyone on the job's crew: the Foreman, then drivers and helpers (in Helper).
- Hours — the closing's total time (labor plus travel), the same for everyone on the crew.
- Each person's rates — their hourly rate (or hourly rate as a helper), packing commission (foremen), additional services commission, commission from the total, and per-job bonus — from their Rate & Commission Settings. See Pay rates per person.
- Tips — the closing's tips, split evenly. See Tips in payroll.
Someone on the crew with no hourly rate still gets an hourly line at $0 with their hours, so you can see them and fix it. A Daily Rate or Per Day Bonus isn't job pay: it becomes a misc payment on the day, once per person per day.
See and change it
Open the order: the closing side lists each day's payroll with each person's hours, and the Payroll button opens it. Change lines, add people or commissions, and press Submit Payroll (or Resubmit Payroll). See Payroll from the order.
After you fix the closing, Update payroll from closing brings everyone up to date while keeping what you set by hand. See Update payroll from the closing.
Who can
- Seeing a job's payroll needs Can see the payroll tab or Can edit payroll.
- Making, changing or deleting it needs Can edit payroll. Without it the Payroll window says "View only: changing a payroll takes the Edit payroll permission."
- Being able to open an order gives neither — so a salesperson can't change their own commission.
Company admins can do both.
If something goes wrong
Submit Payroll is refused when:
- "A payroll needs somebody on it."
- "Foreman field must have at least 1 items" — every payroll needs a foreman.
- "Commission field must have at least 1 items" — every person needs at least one line.
- "Rate must be greater than or equal to 0" / "Value must be greater than or equal to 0"
