Customers know your number. Moving to MoveBoard doesn't change it — here's how each kind of number works.
Your main phone line
Your company's phone number stays with your phone provider. With RingCentral, connect it in Settings › Integrations › RingCentral: calls show in MoveBoard, each person connects their own extension from Connections, and you choose the caller ID customers see when you call from MoveBoard. See RingCentral.
Nothing about your main number has to move.
Your texting number
Texts go out from your company's texting number, shown under SMS Phone number on Settings › Communication › Text messages. It is set up with you by the MoveBoard team — you can't get one yourself from the page.
Start early. US carriers require every business that texts to be registered (A2P 10DLC). Registration has several steps and the carriers review each one — approval takes days, not minutes. Until it's approved, no text goes out. See Texting registration (A2P 10DLC).
If you'd like to text from a number you already use, ask the MoveBoard team when you start — whether it can be used depends on where the number is today.
Calls to the texting number — when a customer calls back the number they got a text from, you can ring a phone of your choice. See Call forwarding to your number.
The AI receptionist's number
The AI receptionist answers on its own local number, which you get on Settings › AI receptionist (Get the AI its own number). Your texting number is never used for it. To have the AI answer your main line, forward calls from your phone system to the AI's number — for example missed and after-hours calls. See AI receptionist.
Plan it
- Ask the MoveBoard team for your texting number and registration on day one.
- Connect RingCentral, and have each person connect their extension.
- If you use the AI receptionist, get its number and set your forwarding.
- Until texting is approved, reach customers by email and portal messages.
