On this page
Ed is MoveBoard's assistant. Ask him a question in plain words — about an order, today's bookings, who's on tomorrow's jobs, or how to do something — and he answers from your company's data, with links to open what he's talking about.
Open Ed
- Press Ed in the top bar, or
- press ⌘ + J (Ctrl + J on Windows) from anywhere, or
- press E when you're not typing in a box.
On a wide screen Ed opens as a column on the right and the page makes room for him; drag his left edge to make him wider or narrower — MoveBoard remembers. On a smaller screen he floats over the page, and on a phone he fills the screen. Press Esc or Close Ed to close him. Ed stays open as you move between pages.
Ask anything
Type in Ask Ed anything… and press Enter (Shift + Enter for a new line). Some things to try:
- How many jobs did we book this week?
- What's the balance on order 12345?
- Who's on the crew for tomorrow's moves?
- Which leads haven't been called back?
- How do I send the deposit link?
The suggested questions under the greeting are a good start.
Ed only sees what you can see: the orders, reports and pages your permissions open. Ask about an order you can't open and he'll say so.
Point Ed at an order
- With an order window open, Ed knows which order you mean — ask what's left to pay? and he answers about it. Press Not about this order if you mean something else.
- Press the mention button beside the box (Mention an order or customer) to pick an order or customer by name or number.
How-to answers
Ask how do I… and Ed answers from the MoveBoard Help Center, with a link to the article and to the screen you need.
Talk instead of typing
Press the microphone (Talk to Ed) and speak; press again to stop. Voice options lets you choose Send when I stop talking, or hold to talk. The browser asks to use the microphone the first time.
What Ed can do for you
Besides answering, Ed can draft a text or email, add a note or task, change an order's status and more — always on a card you confirm. See Ask Ed to do things.
If something goes wrong
- Ed is switched off right now. — Ed isn't on for your company; ask MoveBoard support.
- This browser can't use the microphone — use typing, or allow the microphone in the browser's settings.
- A short line about the monthly allowance — see Ed's monthly allowance.
