Ask Ed to do things

Ed can text or email a customer, add a note or task, change a status, assign an order or change a setting — always on a card you check and confirm.

Ed can do things for you, not only answer. Ask in plain words — text order 23456 that the movers are on the way, remind me tomorrow at 10 AM to call the Smiths — and Ed puts a card on screen showing exactly what will happen. Nothing is done until you press the card's button.

What Ed can do

Ask forThe card's buttonGood to know
A text to an order's customerSendSent from the order's conversation as you, marked as written by AI. Customers who replied STOP or that you switched off are refused.
An email to an order's customer or additional contactSendOnly to an address on that order. From the company or your own mailbox; another person's needs Can send an email as different user.
A note on an orderAdd noteA note the customer will see says so on the card.
A task or reminderCreateYours, unless you name someone (needs Can create task for other users). The due time is on your branch's clock and shown on the card.
A status change on an orderChange statusThe same checks as the order window: trucks and times for Booked or Reserved, full addresses, the completed-job lock. The card says what else will happen.
Assign an order to a salespersonAssignNeeds Can assign leads to other salespeople.
Change a settingApplyAdministrators only. The card shows where the setting lives, the old value and the new one.

Confirm, cancel, undo

  1. Read the card. It shows the order, who it goes to and the exact words.
  2. Press the button to do it — or Cancel (Cancelled. Nothing was done.).
  3. The card shows the result. A setting change offers Undo, which puts the old value back.

If something on the card needs changing, ask Ed to change it, or use Open it on the order to finish by hand.

A card lasts 15 minutes. After that: That card has expired (cards last 15 minutes). Ask me again if you still want it.

Everything is checked twice: when the card is drawn and again when you press — so if the order changed in between, or your permissions did, it stops and says why. What Ed did is written in the order's log like anything you do yourself, and the card then reads Ed · on your behalf.

What Ed never does

However you ask, Ed won't:

  • Touch money — I can't take, charge, refund, move or delete payments, and I don't touch cards or deposits. Use the order's Payments.
  • Delete anything — orders, notes, messages, files, tasks or customers.
  • Act on many orders at once — I do one order at a time… For many orders, filter the Orders list, tick them and use its bulk actions.

Questions are always fine: how do I refund a deposit? gets you the steps.

Permissions

Ed acts as you. He can't do anything you couldn't do yourself on the screen, and he only sees the orders you can open.
