Boxes in the customer portal

The portal's Boxes page, where customers order boxes for their move, with a suggestion based on their inventory or move size and their saved card.

While box delivery is on, every customer's portal shows Boxes in its menu. The page belongs to the move the customer is looking at.

The suggestion

The page looks like your website store, in your portal colors, as one column: the box calculator first, then your bundles, then boxes and packing supplies, all the same width. The calculator is one card — its questions on the left and Your supply list on the right (one under the other on a narrow screen). Bundles show three, two or one to a row, as the space allows.

"How many boxes do I need?" starts from the move itself. The home size is already picked from the move ("From your move: 2 bedrooms — change it if you need to"), so the list shows straight away. The customer can tap another size and the list follows. It is worked out from:

  • The cubic feet of the customer's inventory. If there's no inventory, it uses the move size.
  • From the inventory, the number of TVs, pictures and mirrors (each gets a picture box) and mattresses (each gets a mattress bag) when the customer picks full protection.
  • Light, normal or heavy packer: the customer picks how much stuff they have.

The page shows the item list next to the closest bundle, and marks which one costs less. Below it are your bundles, then boxes and packing supplies, each with your photo (or a drawing when there's no photo yet).

The cart

Once something is in the cart, a round cart bubble shows at the bottom right with the number of items. Pressing it opens the order in a panel from the right (the whole screen on a phone).

Ordering

MoveBoard checks the move's first address against your delivery area as soon as the page opens. When it's outside the area, Add to cart is greyed out and your Too far away words show above the items, on hover and when the customer taps a button — nothing goes into the cart.

In the cart panel, the delivery address starts as the move's first address. The customer can change it: the street suggests addresses as they type (picking one fills the town, state and ZIP), the ZIP fills the town and state, and every box can still be typed over. A changed address is checked again right away — outside the area, your words show under it and Review order stays off. Review order shows MoveBoard's prices, including delivery, sales tax and your card fee. The customer then pays with a card on file or a new card. A new card is kept on file unless they untick the box.

The order arrives as a New box delivery on their move, and the office calls to set the day and time. The page also lists the customer's box deliveries and the status of each one.

The office's read-only view of the portal can't buy anything.
