Dispatch is the heartbeat of every moving company. A missed assignment or scheduling conflict can cost you an entire day's revenue. Today we are releasing major enhancements to Elromco's dispatch board that make scheduling faster, more visual, and less error-prone.
What Is New
Drag-and-Drop Crew Assignment
You can now assign jobs to crews by dragging them directly onto the Gantt chart timeline. Select a job from the unassigned queue, drag it to the desired crew row and time slot, and release. The system instantly checks for conflicts — overlapping jobs, crew availability, truck assignments — and alerts you before the assignment is confirmed.
This replaces the previous click-based workflow and cuts the average dispatch action from 4 clicks to 1 drag.
Visual Gantt Chart Timeline
The dispatch board now displays a full Gantt chart view showing all crews, trucks, and jobs across the day or week. Each job appears as a color-coded bar that reflects its status — blue for confirmed, green for in-progress, orange for at-risk, and gray for completed.
You can zoom from a single-day view to a full week view, and switch between crew view (rows are crews) and truck view (rows are trucks) depending on how you manage your operations.
Real-Time Conflict Detection
The system now monitors for scheduling conflicts in real time. If you try to assign a crew to two overlapping jobs, assign a truck that is already in use, or schedule a job outside a crew's available hours, the dispatch board highlights the conflict immediately with a red indicator and a clear explanation. This integrates with fleet tracking so truck availability is always current.
This eliminates the most common dispatch errors — double-booking a crew, forgetting that a truck is in the shop, or scheduling a job that overlaps with travel time.
TBD Arrival Windows
For jobs where the exact start time depends on when the previous job finishes, you can now set TBD arrival windows. The customer sees a range (e.g., "Between 1:00 PM and 3:00 PM") instead of a fixed time. When the previous job completes and the crew departs, the system automatically sends the customer an updated ETA via SMS.
Why This Matters
Dispatching a moving company is harder than most people realize. Unlike a delivery service with fixed routes, moving jobs vary wildly in duration. A 2-bedroom local move might take 4 hours or 7 hours depending on factors you cannot predict in advance. The enhanced Gantt chart gives dispatchers a real-time visual picture of where every crew and truck is, making it easier to adjust on the fly.
Companies that switch from spreadsheet-based or whiteboard-based dispatch to a visual Gantt chart typically report a 20-30% reduction in scheduling errors and a measurable improvement in crew utilization.
How to Access It
The enhanced dispatch board is available to all Elromco customers immediately — no upgrade or configuration needed. Navigate to Dispatch in the main menu and you will see the new Gantt view. Your existing job and crew data is already populated.
Crews see their updated assignments instantly through the Crew Portal, and the job tracker reflects every status change in real time.
