Your crews are the face of your company. When they show up on time, prepared, and at the right address, customers notice. When they do not, you hear about it. Today we are adding two features to the Elromco Crew Portal that directly address the two biggest field operations problems: no-shows and inefficient routing.
One-Tap Shift Confirmation
Crew members now receive an automatic SMS the evening before their shift with a confirmation link. One tap confirms they will be there. If a crew member does not confirm by a configurable deadline (default: 9:00 PM the night before), the dispatcher receives an alert with enough time to find a replacement.
This simple workflow eliminates the morning scramble that too many moving companies deal with — calling crew members at 6:00 AM to find out who is actually showing up. Dispatchers know the night before whether they have a full crew, and they can take action while there is still time.
How Confirmation Works
- At the time you configure (default: 6:00 PM), every crew member assigned to a job the next day receives an SMS: "You're scheduled for a job tomorrow at [time]. Tap to confirm."
- The crew member taps the link and confirms with one tap — no login required.
- The dispatcher dashboard shows real-time confirmation status for every crew member and every job.
- If a crew member has not confirmed by the deadline, the dispatcher receives a push notification and email alert.
- The dispatcher can reassign the job directly from the dispatch board or contact the crew member through the built-in communications tools.
Built-In Route Optimization
When a crew has multiple stops in a single day — a common scenario for local moving companies — the Crew Portal now shows the optimized route between stops. The system considers real-time traffic data, stop duration estimates, and customer time windows to determine the most efficient sequence.
The crew sees a map with turn-by-turn directions between each stop, the estimated travel time, and the expected arrival window for each customer. If traffic conditions change during the day, the route updates automatically and the crew receives an updated ETA.
What Route Optimization Considers
- Real-time and historical traffic patterns
- Customer-requested arrival windows
- Estimated job duration based on inventory size
- Distance between stops
- Truck size restrictions (low bridges, narrow streets, weight limits)
For moving companies running 3-5 jobs per crew per day, optimized routing typically saves 30-45 minutes of drive time daily. Over a month, that translates to meaningful fuel savings and the ability to fit in additional jobs.
